That’s exactly what happened during a recent lunch at ayam gepuk restaurant, when a soy sauce disaster turned into a viral TikTok sensation.
In a short video that’s taken social media by storm, a woman can be seen laughing uncontrollably as her nasi ayam gepuk—an Indonesian dish typically served with rice, chicken, peanut sambal, and optional soy sauce—was unintentionally flooded with soy sauce.
What was supposed to be just a drizzle turned into a complete soaking, leaving both the woman and viewers in fits of laughter.
The clip, which has garnered thousands of views, shows the woman embracing the moment, laughing off the soy sauce mishap.
What caused the unexpected accident? A loose lid on the soy sauce bottle, which popped off mid-pour and sent the sauce cascading onto her rice.
Speaking to WeirdKaya, Adleena, the poster of the viral video, explained what had happened.
She shared that the woman in the video was her friend and that the incident took place at Ayam Gepuk Top Global in Seksyen 7.
“We were taking a few pictures, and after that, my friend wanted to add some soy sauce,” Adleena recounted.
“But when she went to pour it, the lid came off, and the soy sauce ended up flooding her plate.
When asked if her friend finished the meal, Adleena revealed that the restaurant kindly replaced the drenched rice with a fresh serving, sparing her friend from an overly saucy experience.
The video quickly garnered attention, with many TikTok users chiming in with funny reactions.
