M’sian Woman With BMW & 3-Storey Bungalow Asks Colleague She Rarely Speaks To For RM6K To Redeem Gold

She barely acknowledged his existence, until she needed cash.
We all have that one colleague who acts like you don’t exist until they suddenly need something.

For one man, it was a woman who never even invited him to her Raya open house, now reaching out at dawn asking for RM6,000 to bail out her gold bracelet.

He shared the unexpected request on Threads, sparking a wave of disbelief and agreement from fellow netizens.

Not even close, but suddenly wants RM6K?

In the viral post, the man recalled how he was barely awake when he checked his WhatsApp and found a message that left him stunned.

A colleague he hardly interacted with had messaged him asking to borrow RM6,000 to redeem a gold bracelet that was allegedly due that same day.

Don’t you have parents, siblings, or anyone else to help you out? RM6,000 is not RM60,” he wrote.

“Your husband drives a BMW, and you live in a double-storey bungalow in Kemensah.”

He went on to explain that the woman wasn’t even a friend. In fact, they had never shared a meal or proper conversation.

She had gotten his number through a work WhatsApp group, and they only exchanged polite greetings during company events.

I wasn’t even invited to her Raya open house. I’m not on her level. I’m just a poor salaryman. She’s rich, her husband’s rich, and they live in a three-storey house. So why me?”

Feeling uneasy, he said he decided not to respond immediately and was glad he had turned off the blue ticks on WhatsApp.

‘Don’t even bother!’

Many netizens supported the OP’s decision not to respond, warning that once money leaves your hands, getting it back becomes a whole new struggle.

‘Don’t entertain her. Even if you hold the gold as collateral, you might end up with neither the money nor the bracelet. My friend borrowed RM4K from me and disappeared. It’s been three years.’

Others chimed in with similar stories of friends turning strangers after being denied loans.

“I once had a friend text me late at night asking for RM5K. I ignored them, and now they’ve cut ties. At least I kept my money.”

Some questioned the urgency of the situation, pointing out that gold pawnshop deadlines can usually be extended.

“If she can’t redeem it today, she can pay the interest and extend the period. RM6,000 isn’t exactly a small favour.”
