A 33-year-old Malaysian woman says she is still in pain almost seven years after undergoing a cosmetic breast filler procedure performed by an unlicensed aesthetic practitioner.
The woman, who works as a hairdresser, said she underwent the procedure in 2019 at a beauty centre in Damansara Perdana, Petaling Jaya. She claimed the centre operated without proper certification and did not follow correct medical procedures.
“I have been forced to endure this pain until today. It has been almost seven years,” she said during a press conference.
Attracted by workplace promotion
According to her, she first learned about the beauty company when it held a promotional event at her workplace. Drawn by the offer, she and a colleague later visited the centre to hear a briefing before agreeing to the procedure, which cost around RM2,000.

“At that time, I thought it was just a normal treatment for women. I was still young and had little knowledge about cosmetic procedures,” she explained.
Trusting the explanations given, she went ahead with the treatment.
Shortly after the procedure, the woman developed fever and persistent pain for several days before deciding to seek treatment at a hospital.
Doctors later confirmed that she had suffered a blood infection and complications caused by the cosmetic procedure.
Filler allegedly leaked & could not be removed
Her condition worsened when the filler material allegedly leaked inside her body and spread to areas where it could no longer be removed.
This left her with long term pain that continues to this day, reported Harian Metro.
Even though I received compensation, it cannot pay for what I am going through. This pain will stay with me forever,” she said.

The woman advised the public to always verify the credentials of aesthetic practitioners and ensure beauty centres are properly registered before undergoing any cosmetic procedures.
She also encouraged victims not to feel afraid or ashamed to take legal action if they become victims of similar incidents.
Court awards over RM100,000 in damages
Meanwhile, her lawyer Jason Wee said a civil lawsuit was filed against the sole owner of the beauty company for negligence in performing the procedure.
The Sessions Court judge Emilia Kaswati Mohamad Khalid ruled in favour of the woman and awarded RM80,000 in general damages, RM30,000 in exemplary damages, and RM4,259.10 in special damages.
Wee said the prolonged suffering experienced by his client should serve as a warning to the public to be cautious and not blindly undergo health or beauty treatments without proper checks.
He also expressed hope that authorities will enforce existing laws more strictly to regulate companies offering cosmetic treatments, so similar incidents will not happen again.
