Staff of a kitchenware store in Bukit Mertajam, Penang had the shock of their lives after they witnessed a car crashing right into the premise and hitting a woman in the process.
The incident took place at around 9.30am today at the store located at Jalan Besar in Machang Bubok.
While no fatalities were reported, the woman suffered a fractured foot due to the mishap, reported Sin Chew Daily.

Blamed crash on slipped foot
Speaking to reporters at the scene, the driver said he had initially parked by the roadside in front of a clinic while waiting for his wife to complete her appointment.
After waiting for more than an hour, he spotted an empty parking space in front of the store and drove over to park his car.
However, as he stepped on the brakes, his foot suddenly slipped onto the accelerator, causing the car to lurch forward and crash into the store.

‘I was so scared’
Meanwhile, a staff named Zhang said the woman had entered the store to buy something and was standing near the entrance chatting with her when the car suddenly barreled its way into the store.
Zhang said the woman was pinned between the car and the wall and repeatedly cried out in pain, adding that she signalled for the driver to reverse the car so the woman would no longer be trapped.
I witnessed the entire incident and was so frightened that my legs went weak. After getting out of the car, the driver apologised for the crash.
“Throughout my 10 years of working here, I’ve never seen a car crashing into the store before.”

Police later turned up at the scene to conduct investigations, while the woman was taken to the hospital for treatment in an ambulance while accompanied by her elder sister.
