Malaysia is currently experiencing a heatwave that is sweeping across the country, causing many to run for shady places or guzzle down water in order to beat the heat.
Amusingly, not only are humans feeling the effects of the unbearable heat, but also non-living things such as shoes, as this woman found out.
M’sian woman stunned to see shoe shrink due to the sun
In a series of photos shared by @bubushares on TikTok, she wrote how her young son’s shoes had shrunk in size after she accidentally left one side of it inside the car while vacationing in Langkawi.
Needless to say, the shoe which was ‘baked’ under the hot sun couldn’t be worn by her son thanks to its new sizing, leading her to exclaim that the shoe had turned “from toddler to newborn size”.
However, @bubushares simply didn’t want only one side of the shoe to shrink in size so she decided to leave the other side under the sun as well so that a matching pair of miniature shoes could be made.
As expected, the heat caused the other side of the shoe to shrink too, thus resulting in a pair of equally-sized shoes.
@bubushares also joked in the in-text caption that she could now give the shoes to someone who was looking for a smaller size.
Netizens tickled
The video has since gone viral, where it amassed 2.1 million views and thousands of comments.
Some netizens joked that they would stay in their car for hours under the sun so that they could “shrink” without having to exercise.
A netizen said that the shoes could have been made into a keychain if it was left under the sun for much longer.
Another suggested that @bubushares put the shoes inside the freezer to see whether it would revert to its original size.
Interestingly, @bubushares posted a video of her actually putting the shoes into the freezer but it’s not known whether it was able to turn the shoes back into its prior size.
