Angpau or duit raya, is money that often comes in packets/envelopes and given to guests during festive occasions such as weddings or cultural celebrations like CNY or Hari Raya.
A woman was left flabbergasted after she opened up a packet which didn’t contain real money, but hand-drawn ones.
M’sian Woman stunned by hand-drawn RM20 notes given at wedding
Sharing her hilarious and unusual experience with netizens, user @jihaaaa98s uploaded a clip of her receiving two hand-drawn RM20 notes which were given as a gift at a wedding.
Though it was obviously fake, we can’t deny the fact that the person actually put in a lot of effort to make it as similar as the real version.
In the video, the woman said that she was counting how much money was being given when she stumbled upon the hand-drawn notes.
“Just when you thought empty tissues or empty angpaus were bad, this is even worse,” she quipped in the video caption.
‘It’s the thought that counts’
Although netizens were amused by the hand-drawn notes, they also commented that whoever was behind it had the intention to gift money to the wedded couple, albeit a fake version.
‘That’s okay, as long as someone gives the money.’
‘More expensive that the real money. This person is really diligent in drawing the notes.’
‘If I had the notes, I would frame it up as it’s rare and a memory. Really creative drawing too.’
