Planning a wedding is no easy feat. From booking the hall and makeup artist to arranging for the solemnisation ceremony, countless details need to fall into place perfectly.
Things can become even more complicated when family members start weighing in on decisions — as one bride-to-be recently discovered.
Wanted to change wedding date for relatives
According to mStar, a woman shared how she was left feeling stressed and frustrated after her mother insisted on changing the wedding date because a few aunts would be unable to attend.
Please, I need some words of encouragement. My mom wants to change the wedding date because one or two of my aunts can’t come as their kids are starting school.
“When I try to speak up, she says I have to prioritise the family. Oh, my God, I feel like crying,” she wrote.

The woman explained that despite her efforts to maintain the original date, her mother remained adamant that the attendance of all relatives was the top priority — even above her own wishes as the bride.
“The problem isn’t my aunts. It’s my mom. She wants to change it because she wants her entire family there. She keeps saying we need to prioritise family.
“But what about her own daughter? When I speak up, she accuses me of being selfish. Honestly, when it comes to dealing with my mom, you can never win. The wedding is still three months away, but why is something so small becoming such a big issue?” she lamented.
