Divorces are never a pleasant affair as it involves tearing apart a relationship meant to last for a lifetime. As such, partners can sometimes become violent when the topic of divorce is brought up or suggested.
A Malaysian woman who wished to call it quits on her marriage was left grievously injured after her husband attacked her with a parang.

According to NST, the incident occurred last Sunday (Apr 7) in Ketengah Jaya, Dungun, Terengganu.
Dungun district police chief, Superintendent Maizura Abdul Kadir said a verbal altercation erupted at around 10pm between the 39-year-old victim and her 64-year-old husband, who was a permanent resident and worked as a labourer.
During the argument, the victim asked for a divorce from the suspect. Deeply angered by her request, the suspect took what is believed to be a parang and struck her head with it.

“The victim was later sent to the Emergency Unit of Dungun Hospital before being referred to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital for treatment,” she said.
Received 10 stitches
Maizura added that the victim, who works as a cook at a school canteen, sustained a nine-centimetre wound on her forehead and received 10 stitches.
As for the suspect, police are in the midst of tracking him down and the case is now being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon. Â
