M’sian Woman Saddened To Find Old Lady Living In Shabby Home, Urges Netizens To Offer Help

A condition no old person should be living in.
Being an old person can present a set of challenges, such as not being to get to places as easily as before or being less financially able.

A woman recently took to social media in a series of videos highlighting the plight of an old lady who was living in squalor, leaving her shocked and saddened.

Shocked to see shabby house old lady was living in

In the Facebook videos posted by Nurhidaya Mahmud on Friday (May 26), it first showed her sending the old woman, a local kerepek (snack) vendor in Tawau, Sabah, to her home.

Upon their arrival at the old lady’s home in Kinabutan Ria, what greeted them wasn’t a mansion or a condo, but a wooden shack sorely in need of repairs.

When Nurhidaya asked whether she was living inside the house, the old lady said yes and added that she was the only one residing there.

Upon opening the front door, Nurhidaya was shocked to see the state of the house, where the zinc roof had corroded due to rust and the cement floor marked with large cracks.

Called upon netizens to offer help

In the caption, Nurhidaya wrote that she could barely hold back her tears upon seeing the wretched living conditions.

She also called upon netizens to offer help by donating daily necessities to the old woman whenever they passed by the area.

Her videos have since stirred much attention online, where it racked up thousands of views and comments from netizens who were saddened by the old woman’s story and wanted to help.

On Saturday (May 27), Nurhidaya wrote another post directing those who wanted to give assistance, along with a video showing how to get to the woman’s house.

We hope the old woman will be able to live in better conditions and receives the long-term help she needs from the authorities!
