M’sian Woman Accused Of Selling Non-Existent RM41K Hermes Bag Tells Media To ‘Take Nice Photos’ Of Her

Unashamed.
A local woman has claimed trial to a charge of defrauding a buyer into purchasing a luxury bag which never existed in the first place.

According to The Star, the accused, online seller Christina Tseu Cheau Wei, pleaded not guilty at the Johor Bahru Magistrate’s Court yesterday (May 7) to a charge under Section 417 of the Penal Code for cheating.

If convicted, she faces up to five years in jail, a fine, or both.

Allegedly sold non-existent luxury handbag

According to the charge sheet, Tseu was accused of cheating Teh Ann Na by making her transfer RM41,288 into her bank account for the alleged purchase of a Hermes Mini Lindy handbag.

The incident took place at Laguna Heights Condominium at 11.31am on Aug 26 last year.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Fatihah Mohd Nizam requested bail to be set at RM10,000, while Tseu’s lawyer Jason Tan Ka Yan asked for a lower amount, saying that Tseu had to support her mother suffering from blood cancer, as well as two kids aged 12 and 17.

Tan also told the court that Tseu was an online trader who didn’t have a stable form of income.

Bail was set at RM4,000 with one surety and the court fixed June 9 for next mention.

‘Take nice photos of me!’

While most would do their best to avoid reporters taking their photos in court, Tseu did the exact opposite, with China Press reporting that she told the media to “take nice photos of her” as she was escorted into the courtroom.

The Chinese daily also reported that a total of 11 people from KL and Johor Bahru were allegedly scammed by Tseu.

One of the victims, who was present at the court premise, said she lodged a police report after Tseu gave excuses for not fulfilling her promise to deliver the goods within three days.
