A woman gave a politician a piece of her mind concerning the donation she received from him following the injuries she sustained after stepping into a gutter at a hawker centre in Penang.
She did so by returning him the money as well as chastising him publicly for allegedly exploiting her predicament for political gain.
M’sian woman returns RM100 donation to MCA Youth leader
According to a report by Oriental Daily, the woman named Vijayesri was given RM100 in donations by Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) Youth Deputy Chief Tan Yang Pang.

However, when Berapit Village Chief Lin Qixian (transliteration) came to visit Vijayesri at the hospital, she requested him to help return the RM100 to Tan, which he did so via e-wallet on Monday (Apr 7).
In a statement, Lin said Vijayesri felt “helpless and angry” over seeing her misfortune being used by Tan for political purposes.
She had accepted the donation out of goodwill, but did not expect the donor (Tan) to fail in fulfilling his promise to bring medical personnel to see her.

“Instead, the matter was heavily sensationalised in a video, turning her into a tool to attack political opponents. As such, she decided to return the money to voice her stance on the matter and uphold her dignity,” he said.
Broke promise to visit woman at hospital
Lin added that Tan also failed to deliver on his promise to send medical personnel to follow up on Vijayesri, who currently remains warded at the hospital.
Instead, it was Berapit assemblyperson Heng Lee Lee’s team who sent her to the hospital on Apr 2 and sent medical staff to visit her.

“Vijayesri’s foot injury took a turn for the worst and failed to heal immediately as she suffered from diabetes, making her condition critical.
“Medical staff reported that the delay in treating her wound led to tissue necrosis, which required rotten tissue to be removed from her foot. Fortunately, she was sent to the hospital in time or the consequences could have been dire,” he said.
