In a world full of financial temptations, honesty is often tested. Finding a lost wallet with cash or receiving unexpected money by mistake shows a lot about a person’s character. True integrity means resisting the lure of easy money and choosing to do what is right, even when it’s tough.
Woman returns over RM30K mistakenly transferred into her account

This principle was exemplified by Irriana Azreen, who recently returned over RM30,000 that was mistakenly transferred into her bank account by an unknown party.
Irriana shared her story on the social media platform X, detailing how she took it upon herself to locate the rightful owner of the money after no claims were made for two weeks.
“I feel grateful that I’m not the type to be blinded by money. I was truly tested when someone accidentally transferred RM30,448 into my account. I waited two weeks, but no one claimed it. So, I had to trace the owner myself,” she wrote.
Made a ‘Tabung’ and kept it there for a while

It was discovered that the money had been transferred to her personal account through an online transaction by an unnamed private travel agency.
Irriana dedicated a month to finding the owner and, before returning the money, she transferred it to a savings account she named ‘Tabung’ to avoid any temptation to spend it.
“Fortunately, I found the owner after a month. I did daydream a bit about using the money for a down payment on an HR-V (Honda car model).
But I kept the money in the MAE (Maybank app) savings account, worried I might give in to temptation. My own savings account only had 4 cents,” she joked.
The owner came forward and explained

A screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation shared by Irriana revealed the account owner’s explanation. The owner admitted that a mistake had occurred when entering the account number details, causing the money to be transferred to her account instead.

“The money changer mistyped the last two digits of the account number, so I accidentally transferred the money to your account,” the owner explained.
Responding to questions from curious netizens, Irriana explained the meticulous steps she took to ensure the money was returned to its rightful owner.
She requested the transfer receipt, ID card, the date and time of the transaction, and a mutual agreement letter to confirm the details.
‘Spending it wouldn’t bring peace either’
Irriana’s actions have been widely praised for their high moral value and honesty. Comments from appreciative netizens included:

“Wow, you are so kind. Surely, God will give you something even better.”

“Thank you, good person.”

“It’s true, kind-hearted people still exist.”

“Alhamdulillah, congratulations. Spending it wouldn’t bring peace either. It’s not our own money, right?”
