A Malaysian woman in her 40s, who only wants to be known as Adilah (not her real name), shared how she was deceived by her former husband, a foreign national, who used her name to register his business and expand his empire in Malaysia.
Speaking about her experience, Adilah said she now feels betrayed after learning the man had hidden the fact that he already had a wife in his home country and later married another foreign woman while still married to her.

From love to betrayal
Before meeting her second husband, Adilah had been running a small eatery and was married to a local man who later faced health problems.
It was around this time she met the foreign businessman, who owned a furniture shop nearby.
According to Harian Metro, he would often visit the foreign-owned restaurant next door, and over time, they became acquainted.
This friendship turned into feelings, and eventually, I divorced my first husband before marrying him,” she recalled.
At the start, everything seemed fine. “He never talked about his business matters. Life was okay,” she said.
Pushed to register his business under her name
Not long after the marriage, Adilah said her husband became controlling and overly jealous, to the point she could not go anywhere alone.

He also persuaded her to help him register his business under her name and apply for a license with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) so he could grow his furniture business.
Out of love, she agreed. And the business did grow — bringing in big profits. However, she later discovered the truth:
“He already had a wife in his home country, and after marrying me, he married another foreign woman here. I felt cheated. I expanded his business, gave him the license under my name, and he earned so much from it, but in the end, I was just being used,” she said.
Divorce & aftermath
Adilah eventually filed for divorce, unable to tolerate his jealousy and betrayal any longer.

But even after their separation, he continued running the business under her name and paid her a “license fee,” something Adilah admitted was not right.
“I know this is wrong. I want to cancel the license so he cannot keep using my name,” she said, adding that she hopes other women will be more cautious when marrying foreigners to avoid going through what she experienced.
