A 31-year-old woman lost her life in a freak accident after a lorry rammed into her while she was changing the flat tyre of her vehicle at KM260.6 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) yesterday (Nov 19).
According to Berita Harian, the victim worked at a water filter company and was making her way to her workplace in Senawang.
Seremban district police chief Assistant Commissioner Azahar Abdul Rahman said the accident involved a Proton X50 and a Volvo container lorry.
“Preliminary investigations found that the victim was travelling from Gadong to Senawang when the right rear tyre of her car had gone flat.
“After stopping at the emergency lane, she was in the midst of changing the flat tyre when the lorry, which was driven by a 24-year-old man, was believed to have sideswiped her vehicle,” he said.
As a result, the victim suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Colleagues noticed victim’s absence
Meanwhile, a colleague of the victim, Nur Affiqah Jamran, told the Malay daily that she came to know of the incident after getting a call from the victim’s housemate.
“We were supposed to have a meeting with her in the morning but she didn’t show up at the office.
When her housemate told us that she had been involved in an accident, me and another colleague rushed to the scene but we saw that she had already died when we arrived.”
The victim’s body was sent to Rembau Hospital for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death and the case is being probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
