When a child becomes the only one their parents rely on financially, it can sometimes create unexpected tension and strain family ties.
A Malaysian woman recently shared how her kind gesture to help her father pay a utility bill ended in an unexpected argument.
Her father had asked her to pay the RM380 bill through her account because his online banking was delayed due to the Secure2U approval process.
Despite only having RM500 left in her account to last until payday, she agreed to help.

However, three days later, when she asked for the money back, her father reacted angrily, accusing her of being “stingy.”
Feeling hurt by the reaction
The woman was left shocked and hurt by her father’s response, especially since she had been using much of her salary to help her family that month.
According to Mstar, she explained that her father raised his voice, threw the money at her, and said hurtful things.
In her post, she pointed out that this wasn’t the first time she had helped out financially.
She had already spent significant amounts of her salary on family-related expenses, including paying RM530 to fix her father’s car, covering the RM90 internet bill, and paying for other family debts.

Her post resonated with many online, highlighting how financial help from family can sometimes backfire, leading to hurt feelings and miscommunication.
