That’s exactly the situation one woman found herself in after receiving a surprising job offer from her former employer, the same one that let her go with just 24 hours’ notice three years ago.
The unexpected job offer
In a social media post, she shared how her old manager suddenly reached out, offering her a job. The company was short-staffed and needed someone fluent in Mandarin who could handle sales.
At first, she wasn’t sure what to think. On one hand, it was a stable job offer. On the other, she couldn’t forget how she was dismissed so abruptly before.
Back then, I was let go within a day because of this very same manager. Now, they’re short-staffed and suddenly reaching out. If you were in my shoes, would you go back to a company that fired you like that?” she wrote.
A higher salary, but at what cost?
To sweeten the deal, the manager even offered her a higher base salary. But even with better pay, she admitted she was struggling to move past the bitter experience.
