A Malaysian woman took to Threads to vent her frustration after two teenage boys repeatedly kicked her cinema seat throughout a movie at a mall, turning what was supposed to be a relaxing evening into a night of anger and annoyance.
“I paid RM20, not to get kicked!”
In her post, the woman said the incident happened during a 6:45pm showtime when two teens seated behind her began kicking her chair from the start until the end of the movie.
“I paid RM20, not to get kicked, you know!” she wrote, adding that she even turned around to ask one of the boys politely to stop.

However, instead of apologising, the boy casually replied, “No, I didn’t kick,” without even looking at her, before continuing his antics.
Thirty minutes later, he kicked her friend’s chair as well and just before leaving the cinema, he landed one final, hard kick on her seat, sending her over the edge.
Confrontation at the photobooth
Unable to tolerate it any longer, the woman confronted the boy when she spotted him taking selfies at a photobooth outside the cinema.
I told him, ‘Oh, so this is what you look like? Not only ugly but bad-mannered too. If you don’t know how to behave in a cinema, go watch TV at home instead, stupid,’” she wrote furiously.
The boy then ran off into a nearby game shop, but the woman remained outside, waiting, still fuming over the incident.
She later observed the teen going on several kiddie rides and snapping more selfies. Sarcastically, she told him, “Don’t have money for coins? I can give you some since you look so poor.”
Update: teens deny everything in DMs

In a surprising twist, the woman revealed that the two teens later DM-ed her not to apologise, but to deny kicking her chair altogether.
“They claimed it wasn’t them. But they were the only ones sitting behind me! If it wasn’t them, who was it? Annabelle? Was Annabelle the one kicking my seat? I didn’t know this cinema was haunted,” she joked sarcastically.
Netizens offer advice & support
The post quickly went viral, with many Malaysians sharing similar experiences and offering advice on how to handle such situations.
One netizen wrote:
“I had the same thing happen to me. He kicked my seat three times. The third time I stood up and slapped him. He immediately apologised and changed seats. Probably embarrassed in front of his friends.”
Another advised:
“Next time, call the cinema staff. They’ll kick him out without refund.”
Some even suggested giving multiple warnings before escalating:
“Warn him three times. If he still doesn’t stop, shout at him loudly so the whole cinema hears. The staff will usually come and throw him out. Don’t be scared, you’re in the right.”
