According to the post, she’s been working at her current company for just over a year, earning a basic salary of RM2,500, excluding allowances.

However, she was recently tasked with training a new employee and found out that the newcomer’s basic salary is RM3,400.

Naturally, this left her feeling demotivated to continue performing well.

The anonymous confession quickly gained traction, with many netizens sharing their opinions in the comments.

One commenter pointed out,
“Salary negotiation is a skill. Many people are afraid to bring it up with their superiors. Experience is another factor. Know your value. If it’s not about those reasons, then maybe it’s time to reconsider your workplace. Time to start looking for a new job.”

Another added,
“She might have experience in the field, or perhaps she knows how to negotiate well. Honestly, this is why you shouldn’t discuss salaries with your colleagues. It will only bring down your motivation and create resentment.”

One person shared their own relatable experience,
“This is exactly how I felt when I discovered that my teammate earned twice as much as I did. Our workload was nearly the same, but I was the one handling all the new tasks, which caused me so much stress that I developed anxiety. Naturally, I resigned. Goodbye!”

These comments reflect the growing frustration many employees feel when it comes to salary transparency, or lack thereof.
