In Malaysia, the issue of stray animals often goes unnoticed, but a recent viral video has brought it back into the spotlight, showcasing the compassion of everyday citizens who step in to help.
In a society where stray populations continue to grow and humane solutions remain scarce, stories of individuals taking matters into their own hands resonate deeply with the public.
M’sian woman feeds and nurses wounded stray puppies
One such story emerged recently when Shylli Khan, an animal lover, shared a video on TikTok of her heartwarming efforts to care for a group of stray puppies in Ipoh, Perak, sparking discussions on humane treatment and government responsibility.

The video captures Shylli and her friend feeding a group of stray puppies and tending to an injured one, all while explaining the lengths they went to in order to give these vulnerable animals a fighting chance.
“It’s heartbreaking to see them—these little ones sitting in a filthy place, exposed to rain and sun,” Shylli shared in the video.
“One of them even has a maggot-infested wound.”
Concerned for their wellbeing, she and her friend decided to “kidnap” the injured puppy temporarily, bringing it home to apply Zoosamex spray to its wound.

As Shylli sprays the wound, she softly reassures the puppy, saying, “It’s in pain. Bismillah. Be patient, poor thing, already has wounds at such a young age.”
Despite its injuries, the puppy appears calm, seemingly comforted by her gentle touch. Shylli then returns the puppy to its siblings and makes sure they’re all fed.

In the video caption, she urges, “TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) saves lives. Why can’t our government implement TNR? It would help control the population. Instead, they only resort to shooting them—no peaceful solution. Stories like Kopi’s will never end.”
Speaking to WeirdKaya, Shylli, known fondly as Dadot, explained her motivations further.
“The spray we used, Zoosamex, is specifically for open wounds, especially those infested with maggots,” she noted.
Asked about her frequent encounters with stray puppies, Shylli shared that she regularly feeds stray dogs near her workplace.

“These are Mommy Brownie’s puppies. I was just visiting them when I found one with a wound. It’s not the first case I’ve seen here.”
She also praised the quiet work of other volunteers in the area.
“There are several other feeders here too. They deserve the same recognition; they just don’t go viral,” she added.

As a final message, Dadot offered advice to others:
“Do what you feel is right; trust your intuition. My advice to everyone is to be kind to all creatures, especially in a world that’s already full of chaos .”
