A woman has sparked backlash online after sharing why she ended her six-year relationship with her first love.
In an anonymous Facebook post, the woman said she had been together with her ex-boyfriend since university.
However, as the years went by, she felt increasingly disappointed that he still could not afford to buy a house or a BMW despite already working for several years.
Saw no future with BF
According to the woman, her ex-boyfriend is 28 years old this year.
She claimed that although they had dated for six years, she could not see a secure future with him as he had yet to achieve the lifestyle she wanted.
She also admitted that being with him made her feel embarrassed, as he was unable to provide what she considered a stable and comfortable life.
Eventually, she decided to end the relationship.

Chose boss instead
Not long after the breakup, the woman said she accepted the pursuit of her superior at work.
Explaining her decision, she said her superior is 30 years old but already owns a house worth RM600,000, drives a Tesla, and has savings as well as investments in stocks.

To her, these were signs of financial stability and maturity, which made her feel more secure compared to her previous relationship.
She then advised women to “make good use of their youth” and find a man who is successful in his career.
Netizens slam her
Her post quickly drew criticism online, with many accusing her of being materialistic and looking down on people who are still building their lives.
Others warned that if she chose someone purely for money, she might one day realise that there could always be another woman younger than her.

One user also questioned whether she herself could afford a BMW or a house before criticising her ex-boyfriend for not being able to do so.
Meanwhile, several netizens said the ex-boyfriend was the real winner in the situation.
They congratulated him for finally being free from a relationship where he was constantly being measured by money and material possessions.
Some also thanked the woman for letting him go, saying he might be better off without someone who saw him as a burden.
