In most romantic relationships, couples will often take turns in paying for dates so that they can make the most out of their alone time.
Unfortunately, not every couple practices this and it can sometimes put one of the parties in an awkward position, just like one that went to watch a movie together.
Couldn’t pay for tickets
According to mStar, a cinema worker recounted what happened when the couple walked in to purchase tickets for twin seats which cost RM40.

Unfortunately, the couple hit a snag when it came to making payment as the man had trouble settling the bill using his card.
“He tried to make payment for a total of three times, but it all failed. I suspect he didn’t have enough funds left in his card.
“He then discussed with his girlfriend before returning to the counter to ask if he could pay using both card and cash,” wrote the worker.

The worker said that although it wasn’t protocol to allow such forms of payment, her manager decided to make an exception out of pity for the man.
“While he was figuring out how to pay, his girlfriend was just looking around as if she didn’t want to help.
I couldn’t but think to myself: couldn’t she at least help pay first? After all, they’re both watching the movie together!”
Unequal partnership?
The worker added that she initially thought the couple were going to split the cost, but it was the boyfriend who settled the bill.

This led her to believe that the couple didn’t believe in the concept of sharing expenses, at least for the girlfriend.
The worker also encouraged other couples to be more considerate when it comes to finances so that the burden will not be placed on just one person.
