Being a stay-at-home mum is no easy task, especially when you’re expected to handle household chores, care for a young child, and contribute financially at the same time.
A Malaysian woman recently express her frustration online after her husband complained that he was stressed because she was staying at home instead of working and helping him earn money.
According to the woman, she had only resigned from her previous job two months ago due to a toxic working environment and had been actively looking for a new one.
However, her husband had repeatedly pressured her to return to work.

‘Does he think I’m just sitting at home doing nothing?’
In her post, the woman questioned whether her husband understood how much work she was already doing at home.
She explained that her daily responsibilities included preparing packed meals for her husband before work, caring for their young child around the clock, cooking meals, cleaning the house, doing laundry, and hanging clothes out to dry.
On top of that, she also worked on affiliate marketing to earn some money.
“Does he think I’m just sitting at home doing nothing? Who does all these things? His grandmother?” she wrote.
The woman added that she had been searching for another job since resigning but had yet to receive any interview invitations.
She then turned to netizens for advice on what she should do.
Husband allegedly unable to afford childcare
In a follow-up comment, the woman revealed that her husband had also asked her to take care of their child because he could not afford to pay for a babysitter.
She claimed that she had previously been the one covering the childcare expenses when she was employed.
The woman also shared that throughout their marriage, she had never demanded monthly allowances or financial support from her husband, as she understood his financial situation.
However, she wished he would appreciate her efforts instead of constantly complaining about not having enough money.
“I just want him to be a little more grateful,” she expressed.
‘He can buy RM500 clothes, but we think twice about RM50 clothes’
The woman also highlighted what she felt was an unfair difference in how they spent money.
According to her, her husband could spend RM500 on a single piece of clothing.
Meanwhile, when it came to buying clothes for herself or their child, even spending RM50 was something they had to think carefully about.
