With the current hot spell, schools have been instructed not to let students be out in the sun for prolonged periods of time and to allow them to wear sports attire to prevent heatstroke.
Unfortunately for one mother, her son was allegedly made to stand under the scorching sun after he arrived late at school by just 10 minutes.
Woman claims son was forced to stand under the sun
In a now-viral TikTok video, the woman who went by the handle @dvafella, she wrote in the caption that her 7-year-old son was “cast off, humiliated, and made to stand under the hot sun alone”.
She then explained that the incident took place at around 2pm and that her son was late for school by 10 minutes before classes were set to begin.
She further alleged that the school punished her son by making him stand under the sun and prohibited him from joining the assembly.
Calling the ustazah who punished her son as “ruthless”, the woman questioned whether the school would bear the consequences if her son were to suffer from heatstroke.
Who will take responsibility if my child faints? You will just absolve all responsibility and it’s us the parents who have to bear the consequences.
“My son didn’t come to school late on purpose as there was a reason for it. I’m not a stupid mother that doesn’t know the school rules,” she wrote.

State Islamic Religious Council promises to investigate
Not long after the video went viral, the Johor Islamic Religious Council (MAINJ) told NST that it would launch an investigation into the woman’s claims.
“We are aware of the incident and we have asked MAINJ’s Islamic education department and the District Islamic Education Office to investigate and prepare a complete report on it,” said State Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid.
