Recently, a Malaysian woman shared her shocking story about how her husband divorced her via WhatsApp after an argument over a single unwashed cup.
This confession, shared anonymously on X platform by user @meinmokhtar, read:
“Because of one unwashed cup, we argued until my husband divorced me over WhatsApp. Is it valid?”
Her post immediately captured the attention of netizens, many of whom expressed their disbelief and shared their thoughts.
One netizen expressed frustration at how a minor issue spiralled out of control, saying:
“Imagine, it’s such a simple thing that anyone could do, but because of supposed stress, doing it repeatedly, and being reminded repeatedly, it ended in divorce. Instead of just nagging, he chose to act all high and mighty. Serves both of them right for being foolish.”
Another netizen questioned why neither party could de-escalate the situation:
“Over such a small matter, not even one of them could act as the ‘water’ to cool things down? If both act as ‘fire,’ and then the devil gets involved, it’s no surprise the devil achieves his goal. Sigh, if more people behave like this, the devil will soon get promoted to become a higher-ranking demon.”
One comment highlighted the irony of how relationships change after marriage:
“I don’t understand—when they were boyfriend and girlfriend, they were so eager to do things for each other, even washing dishes. But after becoming husband and wife, washing dishes that could bring blessings suddenly becomes such a big deal, requiring nagging and arguments.”
