M’sian Woman Claims Face Was Severely Damaged By Laser Treatment, Beauty Clinic Denies Allegations

She told WeirdKaya that she was "disgusted" by the beauty clinic's denials.
Facial treatments are meant to make one’s complexion more beautiful and to get rid of skin ailments. However, sometimes things may not turn out to be as expected.

A woman has taken to Twitter to share how her once spotless face was left deeply scarred after undergoing facial treatment at a beauty clinic in KL.

Went for laser treatment at KL beauty clinic

In a lengthy thread by @Teaszn, she wrote that she came across an advertisement for a Pico laser treatment for just RM99 at a beauty clinic located in Mid Valley.

Believing that it was a good deal, she paid the beauty clinic a visit and found the experience to be positive. However, she later noticed that the clinic was also employing marketing tactics to ‘trick’ customers into paying more.

When I visited for the first time, they performed a skin analysis to show me the state of my skin. Then they recommended another treatment, which I had to pay for too, on top of the RM99. This is their clever way of getting you to buy their overpriced packages.

After 3 to 4 treatments, Teaszn said that she began to see “big black spots” appearing on her face and initially thought that it was just the after effects of the treatment.

However, her skin continued to deteriorate as time passed, to the point where she was forced to stop going for facial treatments.

Believing that the beauty clinic was responsible for her skin’s worsening condition, Teaszn reached out to the shop multiple times for a refund and compensation but was ignored.

Unable to bear it anymore, Teaszn consulted a dermatologist and had to pay a visit every two weeks, where each visit cost her around RM200-RM400.

It was insanely painful. At the slightest touch, my entire face would throb and start bleeding really badly.

“My insecurity was at an all-time high so I would never leave the house unless I had to for work. I stopped going to uni and had to differ a whole semester on doctor’s orders,” she wrote.

On top of that, Teaszn said that the medications that she had to take to treat her damaged skin left her weak, which was further compounded by irregular periods.

Thankfully, her skin showed signs of improvement after regular visits to the dermatologist. The only downside was that her cheeks had ice pick scars that will stay there forever.

Beauty clinic denies allegations

Following Teaszn’s tweet, the beauty clinic issued a public statement over the matter, saying that the accusations were “untrue”.

It also said that it had consulted with its legal team on how to deal with the issue as it had “the effect of damaging our reputation and goodwill”.

When asked by WeirdKaya about her response over the beauty clinic’s statement, Teaszn said that she was “disgusted” and found it absurd that she was accused of making false allegations despite hearing similar stories from others.
