A woman has taken to social media to blast an e-hailing driver who allegedly assaulted her for her ride booking for a foreign worker.
She has also called for the driver to issue a public apology to her as well as compensation for the injuries she sustained from the incident.
M’sian woman claims e-hailing driver hit her over ride booking
In the Facebook post that has already garnered over 2,000 reactions at the time of writing, the woman wrote that she had booked a ride for her Indonesian worker on the e-hailing app yesterday (Apr 13).
When the ride was completed, she proceeded to hand over a payment of RM6 to the driver. However, she was met with an irate response, where she claimed the driver shouted at her saying, “Why did you book a ride for foreign workers?!”

“I was stunned and didn’t have time to react before he got out of the car and snatched my phone. When I tried to take it back, he actually hit me in the face with my own phone!” she wrote.
The woman shared a photo of the facial injuries she suffered, where a bruise can be seen on her left cheek.

She added she has since filed a police report over the assault and gathered all the evidence, as well as obtaining a medical report after visiting a clinic for her bruises.
The woman also named a number of demands from both the driver and e-hailing company, which included:
- A formal apology from the driver
- Reasonable compensation for her injuries
- The driver’s immediate suspension and a public statement from the company on the handling of the incident

Is this what you call ‘safe rides’? Can a driver assault passengers and verbally abuse migrant workers without consequences?
“This is no longer just a service issue — this is assault and discrimination against migrant workers!” she said.
E-hailing company responds
When contacted by WeirdKaya, a staff from the e-hailing company said the case is currently under investigation. However, the staff declined to reveal further details.
WeirdKaya also reached out to the woman for comment but has yet to receive a reply at the time of writing.
