Being asked to act as a loan guarantor often puts one in a very difficult situation, especially when the request is made by their parents.
A woman recently accused her father of committing an act of dishonesty behind her back in order to make her the legal owner of a car instead of a guarantor.
Was supposed to be guarantor
According to mStar, the woman wrote on Threads that the car was supposed to be registered under her stepmother-to-be’s name, while she would only act as a guarantor to secure the loan.
She added that her dad couldn’t be a guarantor as he had been blacklisted and couldn’t apply for a loan.

However, the process hit a roadblock in the form of the bank approved a loan of only around RM44,000, which was insufficient to purchase the RM60,000 car.
In order to solve the issue, the car sales adviser suggested that the woman become the car’s primary owner, while her future stepmother would be the guarantor.
However, both women disagreed with the suggestion as they wanted to protect themselves should things go financially awry in the future.

Signature allegedly forged
To her shock, the woman’s father later told her that the bank would contact her regarding the approval of the car loan.
I asked my dad whether I was the car’s owner, and he said yes. That means he forged my signature even though I never agreed to the sales adviser’s suggestion,” she lamented.

The woman’s post garnered much attention from netizens, who urged her to quickly contact the bank and inform them that she doesn’t wish to proceed with the loan, as well as file a cover report.
Some advised the woman not to be “too nice” towards her dad and future stepmother as there was no telling how long their marriage would last.
