Some people take the phrase “teamwork makes the dream work” a little too literally — especially when it comes to dodging workplace rules.
Recently, a Malaysian woman took to Threads to share a rather odd request from her colleague: a message asking HR to help punch in a staff member’s attendance… while they were still chilling at a nearby eatery.
‘Can HR help punch in first?’
In a screenshot that quickly made rounds online, the colleague casually asked, “Can HR help punch in first?” as she was still eating at the restaurant.
She even dropped a laughing emoji at the end, perhaps to downplay the seriousness of the favour she was asking.
Unfortunately for her, the person on the receiving end wasn’t buying it, replying:
“I can’t. I’m HR. I have to be fair to everyone.”
In the post’s caption, it came with a simple but firm reminder: “Be responsible for your own actions.”
Several netizens were clearly invested in the story and wanted more tea.

A few netizens also suggested it’s time for companies to ditch outdated punch card systems and switch to biometric attendance, which would make “punching in for someone else” basically impossible.
