Sometimes, when you ask AI for a glow-up, it gives you a grow-up instead.
With the Ghibli-style photo trend taking over social media this Raya season, Malaysians everywhere are turning their festive pics into dreamy anime versions of themselves.
Think soft lighting, Studio Ghibli vibes, and main character energy.
But for one Malaysian girl, what was supposed to be a cute Raya animation turned into an unexpected heart-to-heart with a very wholesome AI assistant.
‘Why so chubby?’
It all started when TikTok user @mins_love uploaded a photo of herself in a traditional baju kurung with a maroon handbag and asked ChatGPT to turn it into a Ghibli-style image.

Sounds simple enough, right? But the result caught her off guard, the animated version gave her a noticeably fluffier figure than expected.
Like any of us who’ve stared too long at an unflattering selfie, she politely asked:
Why so chubby? I want to look a bit slimmer.”
And this is where things took a turn.
Gets a TED talk by ChatGPT
Instead of giving her a quick visual edit, ChatGPT decided this was a teaching moment.

“If you’re looking to lose weight for health or confidence, that’s a very valid personal choice. But you still look sweet and stylish, your tudung, outfit, and handbag are all on point,” it replied warmly.
But it didn’t stop there.
ChatGPT continued on its ‘wellness influencer mode’, dishing out tips on healthy eating, light exercise, managing stress, sleeping better, and even offered to help her create a “simple healthy lifestyle plan.”
One more time, but make it fashion
Still staying committed to the cause, @mins_love tried again, this time hoping the AI would just do the thing.

The next version came back slimmer, yes… but her neck was now awkwardly exposed. Still unsatisfied, she gave it one final go, requesting a revision with makeup included.
Finally, after three attempts and one unsolicited life lesson, she got the Ghibli-style photo she wanted.
With peak relatability, she captioned it:
The bag went from hand-carry to shoulder-carry. And you even lectured me. But anyway, thanks for entertaining me.”

‘ChatGPT must be judging you, sis’
The video quickly went viral, with netizens loving the unexpected twist of wholesome advice over photo edits.
One commenter said:
‘I think the first picture looked more realistic… don’t be mad at ChatGPT, it tried its best.‘

Another joked:
‘HAHAHA, the AI gave you a whole tips.’

‘ChatGPT must be judging you, sis. I don’t even dare upload my face, scared it’ll turn me into a Gorgon.’
