Love might be blind, but it definitely shouldn’t be broke—especially when only one side is making all the sacrifices.
In a heartfelt post shared on Facebook, a Malaysian woman opened up about the struggles of being in a marriage where she’s left carrying all the responsibilities while her husband enjoys the luxuries.
Married through matchmaking, she explained that her husband refused to let her work, claiming it would be “disgraceful” for her to earn her own money.
Ironically, while he puts his foot down on her working, he doesn’t seem too eager to fulfill his own role as the provider.
“All my savings from my small business are gone. We spent it on a secondhand Myvi and essentials for our twins.”

Luxury over necessity
Despite telling her he’s out of cash, the woman discovered her husband’s taste for the finer things—new iPhone, Starbucks coffee, and fast food—while she’s left to manage household expenses and the needs of their twin babies alone.
“When I ask for money, he says he doesn’t have any, but then he comes home with a new phone or receipts from Starbucks.”
She added that he even avoids cheaper dining spots, preferring more expensive choices instead.
Feeling trapped, the woman tried to reach out to her in-laws, who were unsympathetic, and even sought help from religious authorities.
Unfortunately, she was only advised to “be patient.” When she suggested counseling, her husband refused to attend.
Now, with no transportation or financial independence, she feels isolated and powerless. She admitted to feeling hopeless and uncertain about her next steps.
“I can’t even leave the house anymore. I’m stuck, and all I can do is cry with my babies every day. But I appreciate those who have listened.”
