M’sian Tries Applying For iPhone 15 Pro Max 5-Year Instalment Plan With RM2K Salary

'No way for 5 years. Are you buying a car?' - Seller.
Instalment plans have become a popular way for consumers to afford high-ticket items without breaking the bank.

From the latest smartphones to household appliances, these financial arrangements allow buyers to spread out payments over several months or even years.

However, not all instalment stories have happy endings, as one recent Facebook post hilariously highlights.

iPhone 15 Pro Max 5-year instalment plan?

Recently, a Facebook user named Betterman Chan took to social media to share a rather entertaining exchange he had with a potential customer.

The post, which featured two screenshots of their conversation, quickly gained traction and left many netizens shaking their heads in disbelief.

In his post, Chan humorously wondered which company would entertain such an ‘absurd’ request. He added that he was no longer willing to deal with similar demands.

How it started

It all started innocently enough when the individual reached out to Chan, inquiring about the latest iPhone models and the instalment payment options available at his gadget store.

Customer: Do you have the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and how much is the monthly installment?

Chan: What’s your current salary?

Customer: RM2000

Chan: Our store usually offers instalments to those without salary slips because we’ve been scammed before. Someone disappeared after paying installments for six months. So now, for instalments, either Aeon or JCL requires a salary slip.

They still insisted to do the instalment

Despite this, the individual was adamant about securing an instalment plan for their dream phone with the lowest possible monthly rate over a five-year period.

Customer: Is there any option for the lowest monthly installment? How much for 5 years?

Chan: No way for 5 years. Are you buying a car?

Customer: Under Aeon, under JCL, there must be options for 3 years and 5 years.

The seller promptly dismissed the request, pointing out that a five-year term was more akin to financing a car rather than a phone.

He suggested that the customer might have better luck dealing directly with loan providers like Aeon Credit and JCL.

Many couldn’t believe the audacity of the request

The post quickly went viral, drawing reactions from netizens who were both amused and exasperated by the individual’s persistence.

Many commenters expressed their frustration with people who don’t live within their means, while others simply couldn’t believe the audacity of the request.
