A Malaysian tofu pudding seller has donated RM10,000 to support former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, saying the contribution is his personal way of repaying a favour he received more than a decade ago.
In a Facebook post, Sunnycoco, whose real name is Seow Chau Pen, shared that he remembered a difficult chapter of his life in 2009 when he was placed under restricted residence in Manjung after making a mistake.

He said that period became a time for him to reflect on his life and hope for a chance to return home to care for his two elderly parents.
Said Najib helped him return home in 2012
According to Seow, in 2012, Najib visited Manjung for an event while serving as prime minister.
With the help of the local penghulu, Seow said he submitted an appeal letter to Najib, requesting for his restricted residence order to be ended early so he could return home.
He claimed that he later received a notice from the Home Ministry informing him that his restricted residence had been ended earlier than scheduled.

To others, it may have just been a letter or a form of assistance, but for me at that time, it was an opportunity to start my life again,” he wrote.
Started selling tau fu fah after returning home
Seow said after returning home, he started his tau fu fah business and slowly rebuilt his life.
He said the opportunity to be reunited with his family was something he never forgot.

Having someone willing to give you another chance is the most valuable thing,” he wrote.
Years later, after seeing Najib seeking to return home to serve the remainder of his sentence, Seow said it reminded him of his own experience.
‘RM10,000 means 10,000 bowls of tau fu fah’
Seow said he decided to contribute RM10,000 as a way to show his gratitude.
However, he stressed that the donation was not about politics or encouraging others to do the same.
This is not about politics. This is simply a personal debt of gratitude that I want to repay in my own way,” he wrote.
He added that he was not a wealthy person, explaining that each bowl of tau fu fah sold under his Sunnycoco business earns around RM1 in profit.
“So RM10,000 to me means 10,000 bowls of tau fu fah,” he said.
“One bowl at a time, one ringgit at a time.”
Seow ended his post by saying he remembered the help he received when he was at his lowest point, and wanted to offer support within his own ability.
Note: The claims about the 2012 appeal and Najib’s involvement are based on Seow’s own Facebook post. They have not been independently verified in the available sources.
