Can you imagine enjoying your day only to return and find your cherished vehicle battered and bruised? That’s the exact nightmare Malaysian content creator, Aereon Wong, faced on a seemingly normal evening, turning his day sour in an instant.
In a heart-wrenching TikTok reveal, @aereon.wong shared the shocking aftermath of leaving his car at a supposedly safe open space parking near the MyTown MRT station in KL.
Even the guardhouse proximity couldn’t shield his car from the unruly vandal who went on a smashing spree, bashing in his windshield and leaving the door handle and the side mirror in pretty bad shape.
Ticking off the details in his post, the perturbed car owner documented the time — between 7 and 11pm on the tragic day of 29th August 2023 — encouraging any witnesses to slide into his DMs with info.
The plot thickens as another car in the vicinity was also found battered, clearing any lingering doubts that this might have been a sad case of a runaway trolley.
Being a resilient soul, Aereon didn’t let the distress take over.
Wasting no time, he rang up his family, updated his insurance agent, and marched straight to the Cheras police to report the incident.
A visit to the Setapak police station and a quotation from Honda later, the damage was tallied at a hefty RM13,304.
While Aereon could sigh a slight relief that the vandal hadn’t messed with the car’s internals — with it still being in running condition — the incident still leaves a bitter taste as he embarks on the 3-4 weeks long insurance claim journey.
Reaching out for community support, the TikToker made a heartfelt plea online, urging for eyewitnesses to come forward.
He even speculated that a wooden chair might have been the weapon of choice in this rampage.
First time parking at the area
Speaking to WeirdKaya, he shed more light on the distressing experience. On the fateful day, a last-minute change in plans due to heavy traffic had him divert his route to take the MRT instead, an alternative that seemed sensible at the moment.
Initially headed towards Chan Sow Lin MRT, the lack of parking space led him to the MyTown area where he fortunately found a spot nearby the MRT station.
“It was my first time parking there, and no one knew my location, which rules out the possibility of being targeted, unless more evidence emerges,” he noted.
The spot he chose was near the only entrance and exit point of the large open space that could accommodate at least a hundred cars during the day. Given its strategic location, Aereon couldn’t help but wonder if anyone witnessed the act of vandalism.
“I am curious to know if anyone saw the incident, given my car was parked at a spot with a considerable amount of visibility.”
On returning, he noticed that there was no Person In Charge (PIC) at the guardhouse, a detail that added to the string of unanswered questions surrounding the incident.
Although other cars were still parked in the vicinity, the PIC’s absence left a gap in the security one would expect in a paid parking area.
As for the police investigation, there hasn’t been any substantial progress yet. “No updates from the police yet; my video remains the most recent piece of information so far,” Aereon revealed.
In an update, the determined content creator thanked his supportive followers, assuring them that he’s all good and still ready to churn out more content, albeit with a slightly heavier heart.
“I want to assure you that I am safe, and with your support, I can continue creating content,” he said, showing that despite the ordeal, his spirit remains unbroken.
Despite the traumatic incident, Aereon holds onto hope, urging anyone with information to come forward to help piece together the events of that night.
