A Malaysian family was told to vacate the house they had been renting for the past 21 years, with the landlord allegedly giving them only three months to move out.
The tenant has since taken to social media to share her side of the story, claiming that while she understood the landlord had the right to ask them to leave, she was upset over the way the matter was handled.
Told to move out within 3 months
According to the woman, the landlord allegedly called her in the morning and told her family to vacate the house within three months.
She said her family had been renting the home for 21 years, which made the sudden notice difficult for them to accept.

The landlord wants to chase us out in three months. We have been renting for 21 years, not one or two years. That morning, they called and told us to leave the house. They gave us three months.”
She also alleged that the conversation, which initially started calmly, later became tense when the landlord raised their voice.
“At first, we spoke nicely. After that, they shouted and said, ‘I’m not chasing you away like dogs.’ Please pray that I will be blessed with sustenance to build a house for my family,” she said.
Following the attention online, the woman clarified that she was not trying to dispute the landlord’s rights as the property owner, reported mStar.
However, she said she was disappointed with the way the request was allegedly made.
Already has land for house
Some netizens also questioned why the family had continued renting for 21 years.
In response, the woman explained that her family already owned a piece of land and had plans to build their own house.

She said the land had been cleared and filled, but construction had not started as they were still looking for a suitable contractor.
“The land is already there, cleared and filled. Now we just need to build the house. I’m not saying I am the most entitled, but I feel it is unfair to ask us to leave within three months.
“It’s not enough time to build a house. I have rented for a long time, but I had an agreement with the landlord. But suddenly, without reason, they asked my whole family to leave,” she added.
Netizens divided
The sharing has since drawn mixed reactions from netizens.
Some sympathised with the family, saying it would not be easy to leave a home after staying there for more than two decades.
Others, however, pointed out that the landlord still has the right to ask tenants to vacate the property, as long as proper notice is given.
At the time of writing, the landlord has not publicly responded to the allegations.
