A 17-year-old teen in Johor was left with bruises all across his body after he and a few friends were kidnapped and beaten by a group of men who coerced them into joining a gang, reported China Press.
He recounted the terrifying incident during a press conference held by Stulang assemblyperson Chen Kah Eng yesterday (July 19).

According to the teen named Alex, he and three friends met up and played badminton together until 6pm on Friday (July 18).
When they went to the parking lot to get into their car, four cars suddenly appeared and blocked their path, where a total of six men forcibly dragged him and his friends away from the scene.
Alex said he and his friends were taken to a forested area, where they were blindfolded, punched, kicked, and beaten with wooden sticks by the men.
After getting out from the car, they kept beating and kicking me until I was finally forced to agree to join a gang before they were willing to let me go.
“The men also threatened me to come over to my house to injure me if I were to tell my family or the police about the incident,” he said.
Aside from the beating, Alex also claimed the men took naked photos of him and threatened to leak the photos online if he went to the police, adding that they boasted of having no fear for the authorities.
The teen admitted someone had been lobbying him to join a gang since three years ago, adding that the group of men who allegedly abducted and assaulted him included those who graduated from school, a classmate, and strangers.
Confessed to grandma about assault
Alex’s grandmother, Ms Jiang, who was also present at the press conference, said the teen refused to reveal the truth until she kept pressing him about it.
“My grandson usually comes back at an irregular time after playing badminton. On the day of the incident, it was almost 9pm and he still wasn’t home. I tried to call him but his phone was turned off.
“When he finally came home, I saw that his lips were red and swollen. At first, he denied that he was beaten, but when I pulled up his clothes, I saw his entire body, including his face and back, covered with injuries.
“His left arm bore the brunt of the beating as he used it to protect himself. Fortunately, an examination at the Johor Bahru General Hospital found that he only suffered superficial injuries,” she said.
