A secondary school teacher in Kerian, Perak, is under investigation after a viral audio recording allegedly captured her admitting to insulting a student and instructing them to sit next to a rubbish bin.
The incident, which reportedly occurred at a secondary school in Kerian last week, sparked public outrage after the recording spread across various social media platforms.
Teacher allegedly used insulting remarks
In the audio circulating online, the female teacher can allegedly be heard confirming to the caller that she scolded a student using the word ‘bodoh’ (stupid) and instructing the student to sit near a dustbin.

She was also accused of telling the student’s parent to “go back to China”, reportedly out of frustration that both the student and parent did not understand Malay.
The exchange triggered anger from the student’s family, prompting a male relative to confront the teacher via phone.

The conversation, in which the teacher did not deny the accusations and allegedly made veiled threats, was recorded and has since gone viral.
Claims her husband is a police officer
In the call, the teacher allegedly warned the family member not to contact her directly during her medical leave and claimed she could trace the caller’s identity through her husband, who is a police officer.
I can report this to the Ministry of Education (MOE), and I can also find out your number because my husband is a cop,” she allegedly said.
She also claimed it wasn’t the first time she had used such language and implied other teachers had done the same without facing complaints.

When pressed about her alleged comment to those who can’t speak Malay, the teacher did not deny it and explained that the remark was made out of frustration.
She also argued that while it’s understandable for a 13-year-old student to struggle with Malay, it was “unacceptable” for parents to be unable to communicate in the language.
Teacher admits wrongdoing, school confirms incident
The teacher has since admitted to using inappropriate language and expressed willingness to apologise in person to the student’s parents.
China Press reported that a face-to-face meeting has been scheduled for next Thursday, as the parents are currently out of town.
The school and its Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) held an emergency meeting today and confirmed the contents of the audio were accurate.
The school has reported the matter to the District Education Office, which will issue further instructions.
Meanwhile, the PTA urged the public to stop circulating the audio to prevent worsening the situation.
Police report withdrawn after clarification
According to Oriental Daily, the student’s parent had previously filed a police report but decided to withdraw the complaint after a discussion with school representatives on Tuesday, during which the situation was clarified.
Despite this, many netizens have criticised the teacher for her allegedly racist remarks and called on the school, education authorities, and police to investigate the matter thoroughly.
