A Malaysian teacher shared how a simple request for her students to hand in their books allegedly ended with one being thrown at her, hitting her face and eye.
Taking to Threads, @miszzwawa described the incident as her lowest moment as a teacher, saying she was left deeply disappointed.
Asked students to hand in their books

According to her post, she had asked the class politely to submit their books when a student seated at the back allegedly threw theirs.
I asked the students nicely to hand in their books, but one pupil threw a book from their seat at the very back. It hit me right in the face and eye. I’m so disappointed,” she wrote in Malay.
When a commenter asked which year the student was in, she clarified that the child was in Year 2.
Left speechless and in tears

In the replies, the teacher shared that she was too stunned to respond angrily at the time.
Responding to someone who said they tend to cry when angry, she said she had experienced exactly that.
That was how it was earlier. I couldn’t get angry. I was speechless. The tears just kept flowing. Pray that I stay strong.”
Another commenter shared how they had reacted after a student threw a book in front of their face.
However, the teacher said doing something similar had not crossed her mind, as she was more concerned about her eye and cheek.
Referred the matter to a discipline teacher
According to her, a discipline teacher happened to walk past, allowing her to refer the matter to them immediately.
She also confirmed that she had texted the student’s mother straight after the incident.
When another commenter urged her to inform the school counsellor and senior assistant for student affairs, she replied that she had already informed them.
The screenshots do not show what action was subsequently taken or how the pupil’s mother responded.
Netizens urge her to stand up for herself
Her account drew concern from commenters, with several urging her to raise the matter with school administrators and the student’s parents.
Others encouraged her to be firmer when dealing with classroom misconduct.
One commenter said teachers were not robots who could teach without having feelings, while another advised her to set clear boundaries and correct pupils when they misbehaved.
Amid the responses, the teacher had a simple request for those offering support:
Please pray that I continue to stay strong.”
