Living with a roommate is all fun and games until their alarm goes off—and they sleep right through it.
It’s a universal struggle: while they snooze away, you’re left wide awake, wondering if this is the moment you start plotting their eviction.
But things took an unexpected turn for one unlucky student, whose roommate’s alarm didn’t just make noise—it gave him a crash course in math at the crack of dawn.
In a viral POV video, the student documented the absurdity of being forced to stop his roommate’s alarm.
But this wasn’t your average “press snooze and roll over” situation. The alarm came with a built-in math quiz—yes, you read that right.
To silence the relentless ringing, the student had to solve equations, turning his groggy morning into an impromptu math exam.
Just when he thought he had it under control, the quiz refreshed itself after five seconds, as if saying, “Not so fast, buddy.”
Despite the odds, the student eventually beat the alarm and managed to stop the noise. But not before grabbing a frying pan—just in case things got really desperate. If math didn’t work, at least the pan could. Kidding.
Speaking to WeirdKaya, Farhan, he told us the alarm saga wasn’t a regular occurrence. “It happens very rarely,” he admitted. Farhan also revealed that the incident took place at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM)
Netizens feel the pain—and add to the fun
The video hit home for many who know the struggles of living with inconsiderate roommates. Flooding the comments section, viewers shared their hilarious and relatable experiences:
- “Back in uni, this was my full-time job—turning off my roommate’s alarm. Graduated with a Bachelor’s in ‘Snoozing Friends’ Alarms,’ with honours.”
- “Not only does it sound awful, but I have to answer math questions on top of it.”
- “I don’t care if you set your alarm at dawn, but , please wake up. Why am I the one who has to wake up for the sake of turning off your alarm?”
- “Ah yes, the perfect way to activate brain cells after waking up from sleep.
And, of course, there were some creative solutions:
“No need to wake up—just call his phone. The alarm will stop automatically.”
