A secondary school in Bentong, Pahang, has come under heavy criticism after a student was allegedly subjected to excessive corporal punishment for wearing the wrong school uniform.
The incident has triggered strong public reaction and raised concerns over student safety and school discipline practices.

A mother has taken to social media to publicly accuse a teacher from SMJK Chi Wen in Bentong of inflicting severe injuries on her child.
The incident allegedly occurred after the student arrived at school in the incorrect uniform.
According to the mother, Cherly Kam, her child was caned in front of the entire school community, resulting in large bruises and swelling on the student’s body.

She described the punishment as excessive, stating, “He only wore the wrong uniform — you’d think he committed a serious crime!”
Child unable to sit or lie down
Photos shared on Facebook by Kam show visible bruises and discolouration on the student’s body, suggesting a forceful caning.
She also revealed that the injuries were so severe that her child is currently unable to sit or lie down comfortably.
The post quickly drew attention online, with netizens expressing shock and concern over the incident. Many questioned whether such disciplinary measures were appropriate in a school setting.
Politician condemns corporal punishment
Pahang DAP chairman Lee Chin Chen addressed the issue in a Facebook post, stating his office is monitoring the case closely.
He emphasised that any form of school violence, including excessive corporal punishment, is unacceptable.
He said that the student’s parents had lodged a police report and that an investigation is underway.
If the probe reveals intentional harm, we will recommend that the relevant authorities take further action,” he wrote.
Online community demands accountability
Public response to the incident has been swift, with many netizens calling for better regulations and training for educators regarding student discipline.
