Most final year students are already worried about completing their studies, securing an internship and finding their first job.
However, one student is facing additional pressure after their mother allegedly began planning her retirement before they had even graduated.
Wants to retire at 46yo
According to mStar, the student shared their situation in a post on Threads.
The student claimed that their 46-year-old mother plans to resign once they secure a permanent job as she is tired of working.

However, the student is still completing their degree and has yet to begin their internship.
The student also claimed that their mother is planning to purchase a new car through a nine year loan.
She allegedly plans to buy it once the student begins their internship and expects them to help cover the car instalments, insurance and holiday expenses.
The situation has left the student feeling stressed as they currently have no savings and still rely on PTPTN funds and assistance from their grandmother.

Despite not having entered the workforce, the student said they were already being treated as the family’s main hope for financial support.
Mum allegedly calculated future income
The student further claimed that their mother researches the salaries of different jobs and encourages them to choose a career based on its earning potential.
According to the student, their mother would then calculate how much money they could contribute to the family.
The post received various reactions from netizens, many of whom felt that parents should not place major financial responsibilities on their children before they become financially stable.
Others advised the student to prioritise their own needs and establish clear boundaries before taking on long-term commitments after graduation.
