Cleanliness is one of the things we should take seriously, as it can significantly affect people if not maintained.
Recently, a TikTok video has gone viral, showcasing the filthy toilets at a student dormitory of a university in Sabah.
The video reveals the dirt and uncleanliness of the toilets and sinks, essentially highlighting the unsanitary condition of the entire area.
The toilets were visibly unclean, with brown stains and floors without strainers.
The washing basin area was left unclean, with empty shampoo and body shower bottles scattered around and other items splattered on it.
The videos was shared by one of the students on their TikTok account, @jumlepakmamak, showing the state of the toilets at their dormitory at the university.
Speaking exclusively to WeirdKaya, the OP who opted to remain anonymous, revealed that the washroom is actually open for students to use.
However, given its extremely unhygienic condition, many are very hesitant to use it.
The OP also mentioned that the toilets have been like this since they moved in, suggesting that the dirt has built up over a long time and is really hard to remove.
“We’ve tried cleaning them ourselves with various chemicals, metal brushes, and even scrubbing for hours, but nothing seems to work on the extreme buildups,” the OP shared, noting that despite their best efforts, most of the stains and dirt remain.
“Also, since there’s a water shortage, I think that is a major cause of the buildup of dirt and stains, making them hard to remove now.” they added.
With no other options, students are forced to use these toilets.
Sharing their experience, the OP said that during the last semester, water was frequently cut off, and they had to prioritise saving water for essential needs.
“Hence, we were only able to clean the toilets a few times last semester, especially when I first moved in because it was so disgusting to even be there. I wasted a sum of money buying products that could help clean them up, but it was all in vain,” the OP explained.
When asked whether they reported this to the authorities, the OP said, “Personally, I haven’t reported it, and I’m not sure if my friends did.”
Furthermore, the OP confirmed that this issue has occurred at one of the universities in Sabah.
Netizens were disgusted
Since the videos were uploaded, they have garnered over 100k views, with comments pouring in from netizens who were disgusted by the condition of the washrooms and toilets.
“Just looking at it makes me nauseous.”
“If it’s already like that, it’s really hard to clean… Stay strong”
On the other hand, netizens shared some tips and cleaning advice.
“Use Magic Clean. The blue bottle can definitely remove those black stains. It’s just a bit expensive. Clorox isn’t strong enough.”
“Use the stain remover from Eco, it will get rid of all the grime on the walls.”
