During our student days, we would often burn the midnight oil while rushing to complete a mountain of assignments waiting for us.
But with the help of technology in the form of artificial intelligence (AI), doing assignments isn’t as difficult as it was before, although it does give rise to overreliance and plagiarism.
M’sian student boasts about using ChatGPT Premium
In an anonymous confession shared by a student from the University of Malaysia, Sarawak (Unimas), the student shared proudly about how he and his classmates managed to finish their assignments ahead of schedule with the help of AI tools.
“I feel sorry for the Unimas lecturers, especially the ‘boomers’. They tried so hard to pile us with assignments and give us last-minute tasks, but none of it really troubled us.
We could just close our eyes and finish everything the day before thanks to ChatGPT Premium, Deepseek, and Gemini. All our assignments turned out amazing, complete with citations and references too.
“By the end of the semester, our carry were more than 50%. As for the final exam, we could basically close our eyes and still get that extra 30% to secure an ‘A’,” said the student.
Towards the end of the post, the student took a jibe at the lecturers, saying that they couldn’t “outsmart” students like them.
‘Joke’s on you!’
Netizens weren’t impressed by the student’s boasting and instead mocked him in return and revealing how foolish the confession made him look.
One wrote that lecturers could easily detect whether he used AI tools in his assignments with Turnitin, where it’s equipped with an AI detector.
Others called the student for being proud over something considered to be highly unethical and irresponsible.
‘I believe your lecturer knows the difference between a genuine or fake assignment. This is not something to be proud of.’
‘You might be able to lie on papers, but you can’t lie in real life. Your time will come soon.’
