Despite being an ordinary street cat, Baby’s personality and her bond with her owners set her apart, earning her the coveted title in the show organised by the Fédération Internationale Féline (FIFE).

Rooaida shared how Baby was rescued from the streets and gradually trained to interact in public settings.

“We exposed Baby to different environments and took her to local cat shows to help her adjust to crowded spaces. This socialisation has nurtured her gentle and affectionate nature,” said Rooaida.

Their efforts paid off as Baby’s second appearance at the international competition proved to be a memorable one, with the judges drawn to her unique qualities that met the rigorous judging criteria.

A Triumph Against the Odds

Baby’s victory is especially significant considering she competed against over 1,500 cats from all over the globe.

Her stunning coat, which was meticulously groomed by Shaharudin, played a role in catching the judges’ eyes.

“Baby’s neat and shiny fur was one of the key factors that helped her stand out,” Rooaida added.

What makes Baby’s win even more remarkable is that she is not a pedigree cat.

Her natural charm, affectionate nature, and striking appearance earned her the recognition she deserved, proving that you don’t need a fancy lineage to win hearts.

In an exciting turn of events, Baby was also pitted against another cat owned by the couple, a male cat named Miko, for the grand champion title.

While Baby emerged as the winner, Miko’s performance also showcased the couple’s dedication to their beloved pets.

In addition to Baby, Malaysia sent eight other cats to the competition, including four British Shorthairs, three street cats, and one Bengal cat.

The delegation was supported by the Deputy President of the Malaysian Cat Club (KKM), Habil Hussain, and its Secretary-General, Muhammad Hasbullah Ibrahim.

Raising Awareness for Pet Care

Muhammad Hasbullah highlighted the importance of the FIFE competition in encouraging public awareness of responsible pet ownership.

He explained that cats registered with KKM and participating in local FIFE shows could qualify for international competitions.

“This prestigious annual event helps promote a culture of compassion towards pets and encourages people to care for their animals in a better way,” he said.

It’s safe to say that Baby’s international win is just the beginning of her stardom, and her story will continue to inspire pet owners and animal lovers alike. Now, that’s what we call a real champion!
