As the 2024 Japan Open continues to unfold, Malaysian fans received joyful news today as men’s doubles shuttlers delivered a remarkable victory.
Today (25 August), Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani achieved a significant milestone in their badminton careers by clinching the 2024 Japan Open title, marking their most prestigious victory to date.
Competing at the Yokohama Arena, the determined duo overcame the challenge of world No. 3 and defending champions, Kang Min Hyuk and Seo Seung Jae of South Korea.
They secured the win in straight sets, 21-19, 21-15, demonstrating exceptional skill and composure throughout the match.
According to FMT, this triumph at this Badminton World Tour Super 750 event earned Goh and Nur Izzuddin a substantial prize of US$62,900 (RM275,226), the largest sum they have won in their professional journey thus far.
