M’sian Shuttler Ng Tze Yong Officially Leaves BAM

BAM said Ng’s progress in recent years had been affected by a series of injuries.
Malaysian men’s singles shuttler Ng Tze Yong will be parting ways with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) effective June 30.

In a statement posted on Instagram, BAM said both parties had mutually agreed to end their partnership after discussions.

The national body said the decision was made in the best interests of the 26-year-old player as he moves into the next phase of his professional badminton career.

Reached career-high ranking of World No. 14

Ng had been one of Malaysia’s promising men’s singles players.

He reached a career-high world ranking of No. 14 in November 2023 and has represented Malaysia in several major tournaments.

Among his achievements with the national team were winning the men’s singles silver medal and mixed team gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

He was also part of the Malaysian squad that won gold at the 2022 Badminton Asia Team Championships, as well as bronze-medal finishes at the 2021 and 2023 Sudirman Cup.

Hampered by injuries

However, BAM said Ng’s progress in recent years had been affected by a series of injuries.

This included a back injury in 2024 and an ACL injury in 2025, both of which required surgery and lengthy rehabilitation.

According to BAM, the injuries interrupted what had been a promising upward trajectory in his career.

He also wished Ng good health and continued success in his future endeavours.

Ng thanks BAM, coaches and teammates

Ng also expressed his appreciation to BAM, his coaches, support staff and teammates who had supported him throughout his journey with the national team.
