The Proton Tiara, which sometimes can be sighted in Malaysia, is actually a rebadged version of the Citroën AX, a popular French car. Introduced in 1996, it was Proton’s first attempt at creating a compact city car.
While the Tiara didn’t enjoy the same long-term success as other Proton models, it holds a nostalgic place for many Malaysians as a quirky and affordable car from Proton’s early days in the automotive market, as this uniquely decorated one shows.
Proton Tiara completely covered with M’sian flags
Recently, a car enthusiast, @notalkracing, came across a Proton Tiara with an odd looking appearance and subsequently posted it to his TikTok account.
In the video, the car was seen covered with tons of Malaysia flags and various state flags, along with big mirrors being attached to both sides to act as its side mirrors.
Aside from that, even the number plate wasn’t the typical kind, where it carried the words ‘Pak Cik Azmi’ on it.
Speaking to WeirdKaya, the OP named Puven said he was extremely excited to spot a rare Proton Tiara on the road, especially one with such a striking exterior.
“I was on my way to a car event at the time and when I saw the Proton Tiara’s unique modifications, I instantly found it to be captivating and screaming with patriotism.
“It’s not every day you see a Proton Tiara, and this one was truly special,” he said.
Reflecting on the whole experience, Puven felt that the moment was about more than just spotting a cool car.
It wasn’t just about seeing a rare Proton Tiara, although that was pretty awesome. It was about how this one car, with its homemade modifications and patriotic spirit, managed to connect so many people together.
