Two days ago, we wrote about a diehard fan of the Malaysian football team who sold his motorbike just to watch them in action at the Asian Cup in Qatar.
The man, later identified as Derrick Gan, has since achieved celebrity status on social media as netizens were impressed with his unwavering support for Harimau Malaya despite the team getting eliminated early from the tournament.
M’sian pub offers free beer and new motorbike to football fan
Not long after Derrick’s financial sacrifice made headlines, a local pub named The Beer Factory gave him a generous offer on its Facebook account.
In the post, it wrote that it was looking to replace his “bucket of tears” with a “bucket of beers”, which will 100% be paid by them.
They even offered to gift Derrick a brand new motorbike after he sold his off in order to fund his way to Qatar.
It comes with a caveat though: Derrick will have to contact The Beer Factory in order to claim the offer.
In the comment section, The Beer Factory asked out loud where Derrick was, to which a netizen by the name of Royston Gan responded: “We are still in Doha. Will be back tomorrow night (Jan 27).”
However, it’s not confirmed whether Royston is related to Derrick in any way.
‘Where’s my beer?’
The Beer Factory’s post has since garnered lots of attention online, with netizens praising its generous offer.
On the other hand, some tried to lay claim to the free beer and new motorbike in the most humourous manner.
‘By the way, my name is Faiz Derrick Gan…(I’m) already circumcised you can pass (the) bike to me.’
‘I’m Derrick’s friend. Can I get the beer on behalf of him because he doesn’t drink?’
