Police officers are expected and tasked with the job of protecting citizens from harm and danger. Unfortunately, there are cases where the men in blue fail in this aspect and become the perpetrator instead.
Such was the case for a 16-year-old teenage girl in Perak, where she claimed a police sergeant raped her on several occasions.
M’sian police sergeant accused of raping 16yo
According to NST, the 42-year-old unnamed sergeant allegedly raped the teen in front of a police station  a police station and the parking lot of a supermarket in the Perak Tengah district between September and October last year.
The incident only came out in the open after the victim informed her mother, who then accompanied her to the Perak Tengah district police headquarters to have her statement taken under Section 112 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
No arrests made
Perak Tengah police chief Superintendent Hafezul Helmi Hamza told the English daily police were able to identify the suspect based on the telephone number which appeared on the victim’s phone.
Phones belonging to the victim and suspect have also been seized as part of the investigation. However, no arrest have been made thus far.
“The police are waiting for the hospital to submit the [student’s] health report. Initial examinations by the hospital showed that the victim did not sustain any external injury.
“The case is being probed under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape, which provides 20 years of imprisonment and whipping upon conviction,” he added.
We hope the victim gets the justice due to her and that the suspect will be charged soon!
