The officer then proceeds to ask for Luke’s driving license and whether he knew why he was being pulled over, to which Luke affirmed to both questions before he was told that his mistake would cost him RM300.

When Luke asked whether it was possible to receive a ticket to pay the fine later, the officer said he would need to follow him to the police station 10km away to settle the fine, adding that doing so was to prevent tourists from leaving the country without paying the fine.

The police officer is then heard giving Luke a choice: either accompany him to the police station or resolve the matter immediately with a ‘discount’ of RM100. And of course we all know how it ended!

‘Surprised that I got away with it’

After paying the RM100 ‘discount’, the camera turns back to Luke’s face, where he expressed surprise over being let off the hook so easily.

“I’m surprised I kinda got away with it compared to other places where I’ve ridden motorbikes before like Bali…you just get away by chucking money at them. It works here, I guess.”

He then made his way to a nearby shop to purchase a cheap helmet so that he won’t be pulled over by the police anymore.
