Following the release of the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results, a tuition teacher has gone viral after sharing how a parent allegedly lashed out at her when the parent’s child failed Mathematics.
In a post on Threads, the teacher claimed that the parent became emotional after the results were announced and accused her of being “biased”, comparing her child to another student who scored a B+.
Parent accused teacher of favouritism
According to the teacher, the parent questioned why another student was able to score well while her own child failed.
However, she explained that the B+ student had perfect attendance, consistently completed exercises, and actively asked questions during class.
In contrast, the parent’s child was often distracted, frequently scrolling through TikTok during lessons, which affected their focus.
The teacher also revealed that the parent had previously failed to pay tuition fees for two months. Despite this, she chose not to pursue payment at the time in order to support the student ahead of the SPM exams.
Today she called me during my class just to scold me because her child failed SPM. Even after a recheck, the result was still a fail,” she said.
Late-night calls and messages
The situation escalated further when the parent allegedly continued to contact the teacher late into the night.
She WhatsApped and called me at 1.50am just to vent her emotions. What else can I do? I can only ‘educate’ her,” the teacher wrote, adding that she shared screenshots of the messages as proof.
She also disclosed that the student had only attended tuition classes for four months and was pulled out three months before the SPM exam, as the parent felt there was no improvement.
Concerns over student discipline raised earlier
The teacher said she had previously informed the parent about the child’s habit of using TikTok during lessons and advised stricter control over phone usage. However, the parent reportedly responded that she was unable to manage her child.
“If even the mother cannot control the child, what else can I do?” the teacher added in the comments section.
She also claimed that the parent later expressed regret over paying high tuition fees.

Some pointed out that subjects like Mathematics require consistent practice and cannot be mastered through lessons alone.
